Vermont: Outline

Vermont not only takes its state nickname ("The Green Mountain State") from the mountains, it is named after them. The French Verts Monts is literally translated as "Green Mountains". The Long Trail is a hiking trail located in Vermont, running the length of the state. It is the oldest long-distance trail in the United States. Vermont's Green Mountains offer a lifetime of hiking oportinities and are enjoyed by locals and visitors alike.
